hi,
i am impressed.
ur blog is well researched friend i agree with u but need not blow this prob out of proportions, there had been a fervour of nationalism everywhere during past few years thru media, interviews, movies no doubt we as citizens understand the role armed forces play.
your point to make for the shorfall i do not agree with....even today people in army join to earn livlihood first...patriotism is enthused afterwards...the harsh truth is..its still the roti.. which is driving the jawan to armed forces(not offrs)

so until unless u people as enterpreuners, politicians, policy decision makers( MBA graduates) make people of both village and city happy the inner conscious of all will rise..towards nation's safety.

sit is different in israel and india..corelation to the extent of military might only is acceptable nothin ore dear frnd.
its the quality of training which makes an army strong which as of now is the best of indian army

When are you writing all these man? I think of a lot of things I want to jot down about and they simply die inside because of lack of time.

On the post, I think its a good idea mandate "community service" for good institutes so that the payback happens. After that the student must be free. But as you know. Anything just done for the sake of doing it just turns out to be a futile excercise. These graduates might just while away time, bunking, taking it as a necessary burden which they have to do for being eligible for a dollar paying job. And if its not compulsary, I guess whoever goes their will atleast try to make things better. I think that's a better scenario thinking considering people are waking up and taking risks.

Military is one different scenario alltogether. If military attitude could be brought in PSUs, I don't think we would need anyone extra than those hanging around there. They all need a whip on their rear side and 50 rollovers on the ground if they don't meet their target. A babu will have to cut one whole field of crop if he ever asked a farmer of some chai paani.

bye for now. Shall come back to see important replies though.

Hey Badari,
I did note the problem u mentioned. I think u overlooked those lines.
<em>"There may be a problem of aplenty as there might not be so many vacancies to absorb so many ppl. The solution to this can be recruiting people from institutes in the order of their ranking in India. Like firstly the IIT’s and IIM’s passouts should be absorbed at these places, and so forth."</em>

And I am not asking to give them training, but to actually employ such people in PSU's.

Thanks, neway.

A nice idea but with plenty of problems. Compulsory military training will impart a sense of discipline which would go a long way in solving many of India's problem. However I am afraid we have a problem of plenty rather than scarcity as regards manpower. Forgetting serving India for the moment, even if the government wants to offer training to fresh graduates in the PSUs, I am afraid it would be as strain on the organisations rather than a help. This idea will be ideal for doctors who could be deputed for compulsory rural service.
Your suggestions are really good - in case someone in power is sincere about doing this, it can serve India well.
